Literary talk: 5 major choices in narrative strategy
At 1pm on Wednesday 12 October at the NSW State Library and via Zoom I’ll be exploring some of the narrative choices I made while writing “Breaking through the pain barrier. The extraordinary life of Dr Michael J. Cousins,” the biography of Australia’s father of pain medicine.
Choosing narrative strategy
Some of these choices were the book’s structure and whether to sequence it chronologically or by theme, and when in Michael’s life to start it – when he was a child, at a pivotal moment in his journey, or at the end of his career? Other choices were narrative voice, pace, rhythm, interpretation, language, and the use of fiction techniques.
I hope you can join me in the Dixson Room at the NSW State Library or via Zoom on 12 October.
